On
behalf of the Center for Diversity
in Engineering and Computing
(CDEC), I would like to welcome
you to our website
This year we have been particularly
successful in incorporating
technology as a primary portal
into the engineering world.
We have been successful in
distributing refurbished
computers to high achieving
students throughout the empowerment
zone and those students,
in turn, have become role
models for students in future
Center for Diversity Programs.
As we prepare our future
engineers and scientists,
we not only increase awareness
on diverse opportunities
and educate on technical
skills, but also provide
tools for growth. This includes
a holistic approach to school
preparation including intellectual,
mental, physical, emotional,
and cultural/social aspects.
With our effective programming,
we have determined that it
is through the combined efforts
of educational institutions,
government, industry, and
the entire community that
our students can truly thrive
and prosper in a complex
and changing world. We believe
that it is this same collaborative
effort that will foster the
reciprocation of contributions
by those we touch, thereby
increasing the benefits to
society as a whole. Through
shared information and resources
via the internet, cooperative
networks and positive action
we, as a South Florida community,
can create a more prosperous
tomorrow.
The
faculty and staff,
here at the Center for
Diversity
in Engineering and Computing,
welcome you to be a part
of our shared vision
Sincerely,
Dr. Gustavo Roig, Center Director
Associate Dean, College of Engineering
Florida International University
