at rehab today the computer kept gonging which meant someone’s heart wasn’t beating as it should yet all of us kept on as if nothing were wrong actually I kept on as if nothing new were wrong & I was right since it was just George’s uneven beats again George’s hair is roughly as gray as his face & today it was his camaraderie with death that kept us progressing on those treadmills without needing to talk much
