What
did YDP contribute to conferences?
The Youth Development Project
(YDP) had a major role to play in the SRIF conference. SRIF sponsors an international conference each year
with the goal of providing a forum for research and theory about identity
issues. Because SRIF is closely affiliated with the Society for Research
on Adolescence (SRA) every other year SRIF conferences take place as part
of the SRA conference. In 2002 it was in New Orleans in conjunction with
SRA. Next year, 2003, SRIF's Tenth
Annual Conference is being hosted by the University of British Columbia
and will be held May
15 – 18, 2003 in Vancouver,
British Columbia, Canada. It promises to be a great conference!
The Society has a substantial
share of its administrative headquarters at FIU. The membership lists and
financial accounts management is maintained by the Youth Development
Project. In addition, FIU and the University of Western Ontario (UWO)
jointly sponsor the Society journal, IDENTITY:
AN INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF THEORY AND RESEARCH. IDENTITY is
the official journal of the society. This cutting-edge new journal is
published by Lawrence Erlbaum Associates and will be publishing its third
volume in January 2002. The journal, which is now being abstracted or
indexed in major services including PsycINFO/Psychological
Abstracts, Sociological Abstracts,
is rapidly becoming established as
a leader in the field. [more]
