Florida-Georgia Louis Stokes' Alliance for Minority Participation

 
Program Description
The FGLSAMP program is a coalition of thirteen academic institutions in Florida, and one in Georgia., with a commitment of increasing the production of baccalaureate degrees awarded in science, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines, and influencing the enrollments of these B.S. degree recipients into STEM graduate programs.

The FGLSAMP Scholarship Program
FIU fully admitted fulltime minority students pursuing an undergraduate degree in any of the STEM majors; computer science, physics, biology, chemistry, math, statistics, and all of the engineering majors, including teacher’s education in these fields. May apply every Fall and Spring for the FGLSAMP scholarship program.

Scholarship Requirements
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent U.S. Resident (proof of residency required)
Must have an overall G.P.A. of 2.8 or higher at FIU
Must be a fully admitted first time undergraduate student at FIU, and register for fulltime 12 credits minimum) each Fall and Spring term.
Must apply and qualify for Financial Aid at FIU each year while in the FGLSAMP program
Must show an intended major in the STEM approved majors on the FIU student transcripts, and be following the curriculum for that major
Must fill-out an FGLSAMP scholarship program application and submit 2 letters of recommendation.

Selection Process
The Steering Committee will evaluate each applicant after the FIU drop/add deadline, and send notification of acceptance or denial.
