WorldTeach is a non-profit, non-governmental organization based at Harvard University’s Center for International Development. We provide opportunities for individuals to make a meaningful contribution to international education by living and working as volunteer teachers in a variety of countries and settings. Now, more than ever, we are seeking math and science teachers for two exciting year-long programs in Guyana and Rwanda.
WorldTeach works with an agency in the host countries – usually the Department of Education - to identify what is most needed in that country. In Guyana and Rwanda, there is a desperate call for math and science teachers. As a teacher in these countries, you will be able to impart your knowledge and enthusiasm for math and science on your students as they grant you the unique opportunity to share their culture and community for a year.

campus at FIU to present information about its Student Career Experience
Program (SCEP). SCEP is a special paid internship designed to provide
students currently enrolled in a degree program with paid work
experience that compliments their academic program, and to introduce
them to Federal government career opportunities. Upon completion of the
required number of work hours (generally 640 hours before graduation),
and graduation, students become eligible for direct hire into the

University of Tennessee summer Research Experiences
The University of Tennessee is pleased to offer a summer Research
Experiences for Undergraduates in mathematics for 2009. The program runs
for 9 weeks from June 1 to July 31, and pays a stipend of $3600 plus
housing. This year the three projects are focused around the intersection
of geometry, topology, and analysis. We will invite a diverse group of
students from around the country, and are especially interested in
students from underrepresented groups and those from academic institutions
where students may have limited opportunities to take advanced topics in
mathematics or participate in research. We are looking for students with
demonstrated mathematical talent, regardless of background. Projects will
generally be accessible to students who have had at least one rigorous,
proof-based math course, but will also be interesting and challenging for
students with a greater mathematics backgrounds. See our new website http://web.utk.edu/~utkreu/2009schedule.html for more details.
