The warmth of spring came early this year in Miami. The crisp air of the South Florida winter quickly gave way to intense sun and aggressive mosquitoes, but it also gave way to warm waters along the beach and bright flowers in the trees. Though the heat may be oppressive at times, this is also a season of rejuvenation, and what better way to rejuvenate yourself than by diving into some great reading.

Gulf Stream Online #7 is my last issue as editor, and as I pass the torch to our next editor and all the editors of the future who join our proud tradition, I feel that we have put together a wonderful pair of issues for the 2011/2012 year. This spring issue offers another great selection of writing, and it was a pleasure to be able to give our readers such varied stories, themes, styles, and genres. Our dedicated staff worked so hard to put together a magazine that we admire as readers as well as editors, and we're eager to share all of these pieces with you.

The temperature and the price of gasoline may be rising every day, but we here at Gulf Stream have always felt that great reading is one of the best forms of refreshment and relief. We hope Gulf Stream Magazine Online #7 will provide that for all of you. Have a joyous spring and a fun-filled summer, and enjoy the issue!

Happy Reading,

James Elens
