A Sunfish

William Cullen Jr.

Dancing on its tail like a skimmed stone slowing to a stop the fish fights the hook falling back under for one last giant leap upward as if its namesake could reach down and save it where it hangs golden for a brief moment at high noon on the summer solstice before falling back to earth into a wide dark net that snares us all.
